KNOXVILLE, TN — M&L Sound worked with Justin Haynes, contemporary worship director at Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church, based here, to upgrade the sound system. M&L Sound steered Haynes toward ISP Technologies’ High Definition Line (HDL) 2208. The installed system includes 18 of the HDL 2208s.

More details from ISP Technologies (www.ispproaudio.com):

Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church in Knoxville, TN  has roots that can be traced back to the early 1900s.  Over the years, attendance has steadily grown and it soon became time to upgrade the sound system in the Contemporary Worship space.  Justin Haynes, the Contemporary Worship Director, got in contact with M&L Sound of Knoxville, TN to help accomplish the task.

M&L Sound is a full service Audio and Video company that provides concert touring, rental equipment, and engineered installation services.  M&L Sound knows that the most important thing about any audio system, especially at a church, is the midrange.  The midrange is where the sound from a voice resides.  A sound system is not much good if you cannot hear what is being said.

Middlebrook Pike UMC in Knoxville, TN upgraded with ISP Technologies' High Definition Line (HDL) 2208 (18 units in all)When Justin explained to M&L that they needed a high performance, compact, line array to cover their space, M&L knew where to find what they needed.  ISP Technologies’ High Definition Line (HDL) 2208. The HDL 2208 packs large sound into a small package,  featuring two 8 inch woofers and one 1.4 inch neo compression driver, all powered by an internal amplifier with 850 watts of RMS power.

ISP Technologies pays particular attention to the midrange in all of the speakers that they manufacture.  They would not even manufacture the HDL 2208, a 2 way cabinet, until they discovered how to do it in a way that protected the critical midrange of the sound.  Due to this, the HDL 2208 has outstanding vocal clarity from a 2 way box!

Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church had one more challenge for ISP to accomplish before they made the final decision on the HDL 2208’s, they wanted the cabinets to be white to blend into the church’s decor. However, that was no problem for ISP! All of ISP’s speaker cabinets are built to order and are available in several custom color choices.

Justin Haynes, the Contemporary Worship Director at Middlebrook Pike said, “We spent countless hours searching for the right speaker system for our Contemporary Worship space.  We upgraded the acoustics of the room and M&L Sound installed a sweet DiGiCo console for us, so we needed a speaker system that would not only complement these upgrades, but also handle our wide variety of music.  We were about to pull the trigger on a different line array system (one that I was not completely happy with) so I called my trusted friend Scott Pederson with Waves just to run it by him.  He told me to stop and call his friend Buck with ISP and check out their stuff.  Within a few weeks Buck came down to see our space, meet with the guys at M&L, and he brought down a demo rig for us.  We were all blown away and I’m so glad that we went with ISP.  Not only are the speakers awesome, but the people at ISP and M&L sound are a joy to work with.”

M&L Sound performed the installation of 18 HDL 2208’s and now Middlebrook Pike United Methodist Church has a rocking sound system that blends in flawlessly and will handle everything that they can throw at it!
