LAS VEGAS — Even with a rather jaundiced word choice, “toxic,” selected by Oxford Dictionaries as the word of the year (with “gaslighting” among the runners-up), the live event production industry has plenty to be thankful for as the 2018 touring season comes to a close and thoughts turn toward honoring the best people, companies and products who collectively raised the bar this year.
Sure, 2018 will be remembered for a lot of post-Kavanaugh-confirmation “she said, he shouted” negativity, but both sides of our politically-divided-but-still-generally-prosperous nation were able to claim at least partial victories after the mid-term elections, and one glance at the Parnelli Awards ballot can restore a sense that our industry’s decades-long pattern of continuous technological improvement is alive and well.
Voting continues, and the votes will be tallied in December to determine who will be stepping up to the podium on Jan. 25 at the Anaheim Hilton to join lifetime achiever Chris Adamson, visionary Yvan Miron and audio innovator Brock Adamson in the Parnelli Awards winners circle.
