Korean R&B Sensation Se7en Performs in Hollywood with Meyer Sound

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – Korean pop/R&B singing sensation Se7en recently held an album preview party for his first American release, performing to a group of music industry luminaries at Hollywood’s Highlands lounge. For an audience that included executives from Interscope, Jive and Sony record labels and celebrities such as director John Singleton and musician/producer will.i.am, Seoul, Korea-based Avix Tech provided a Meyer Sound system to deliver the dynamic showcase.

The configuration comprised two arrays of five MICA line array loudspeakers, with six 700-HP subwoofers handling the thumping low end. A Galileo loudspeaker management system was used for system drive and processing, and a pair of UM-1P stage monitors were linked directly to a PM5D FOH console.

“The self-powered aspect of the Meyer Sound equipment proved to be invaluable,” remarked engineer Eric Han of Avix Tech. “Due to scheduling conflicts, the equipment arrived only two and a half hours before the show. But thanks to the Meyer gear’s fast setup and easy optimization and assistance from Highland’s house engineers, we were up and running with time to spare.”

Han monitored system functionality for the presentation using a SIM 3 audio analyzer. “The SIM system allowed me to keep an eye on frequency response, phase, RTA and other aspects of the system via a single LCD monitor,” Han said. “I have always found the SIM system to be exceptionally reliable. That’s why I brought my own SIM system from Korea for the shows.”

A multi-platinum star and MTV favorite in Asia, Se7en performed several tracks from the album, Se7olution, as well as “You Got Me Now” accompanied by Academy Award winners Three 6 Mafia, and “Girls,” produced by Rodney Jerkins.
