NEW ORLEANS and TELLURIDE, CO – Kingston Audio Services used Powersoft amplifiers at the recent 2010 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, which featured Jeff Beck, Elvis Costello, José Feliciano and Irma Thomas, and the 37th annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival, featuring Lyle Lovett, Alison Krauss & Union Station and Brandi Carlile.
At the Jazz & Heritage Festival, Kingston Audio Services owner Simon Fraser led the crew providing the sound system for the Gospel Tent and the Gentilly Stage.
At the Gospel Tent, "we used Powersoft K3, K6 and K10 DSP amplifiers to power our FOH system," Fraser said. "Powersoft drove an all-Outline speaker system that included Butterfly speakers and SubTech 218 subwoofers with Mantas speakers for outfills," he added, crediting the amplifiers as a "perfect match" with the speakers.
At the Gentilly Stage, the setup included a combination of Outline LAB 21 self-powered speakers using Powersoft IPAL technology and LAB 21 speakers driven by Powersoft K10 amplifiers featuring damping factor control and DSP-controlled limiting.
At the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Kingston Audio Services used Powersoft amplifiers for the FOH and monitor systems.
"Kingston was one of the early believers in Powersoft and every year we use them, the audiences are not disappointed," Fraser added. "The amplifiers use far less current than traditional designs, they are lightweight and work under the difficult conditions. They work efficiently in the humid, hot conditions in New Orleans as well as the dry, thin air in the mountains."
