NEW YORK — Jose Luis Perales’ monitor engineer, Miguel Arbo, and FOH engineer, Miguel Torroja, are currently touring with the artist in support of his most recent album, Calle Soledad. Arbo credited the myMix personal monitoring system from Movek as a valuable addition to the tour.

For more than four decades, Jose Luis Perales has been making waves on the Latin music scene, selling more than 50 million copies of his music.  His most recent album, Calle Soledad, builds on that legacy.

On tour now to promote the album, Perales’s Monitor Engineer, Miguel Arbo and FOH Engineer, Miguel Torroja have found the myMix personal monitoring system to be a valuable tool.  Consisting of 8 myMix, 1 IEX 16L input expander, a powered 8 switch and the myMix Control, the myMix system offers them the functionality, flexibility and consistency that the two engineers need to stage a professional, high-quality concert.

Checking in two months into the tour, Arbo proclaims, “myMix is definitely the best monitoring system that exists!”  During the tour, the system has been shipped on 50 different flights to 10 different countries to more than 35 shows without a single problem or failure.  “This is a very reliable tool that is intuitive and comfortable to use while providing so many possibilities:  mulit-track recording, effects per channel, EQ, sending the outputs to wireless, two XLR inputs with phantom power, I could go on and on,” remarks Arbo.

Being yet relatively new, myMix on the Perales Tour has stirred up interest in the sound companies with which the Perales camp has worked.  Arbo tells them how enjoyable it is to watch the musicians be independent in making their own adjustments but is quick to note that this does not mean he is no longer needed. “Monitoring engineers, do not worry!  myMix is not going to take your job—it’s more like working in a good restaurant—you still need a good chef, even if it is self-service.”
