James “Bonzai” Caruso Featured Speaker at IADT Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV – Four-time Grammy Award winning recording engineer, producer, arranger and song writer, James “Bonzai” Caruso, is the featured speaker at the inaugural “Inside the Studio” at IADT (International Academy of Design & Technology) Las Vegas on July 11, 2013. Sponsored by the IADT Audio Production department, the open forum Q&A and “meet & greet” session is at the school’s new industry-standard recording and mixing studio, Vegas View Recording.  The event is free and open to the public.

Bonzai has been a Las Vegas resident since 2009 when he brought his incomparable talents to Odds On Recording Studios as chief audio engineer and in-house producer. An industry icon, Bonzai’s extensive list of credits as an engineer and mixer include his chart-topping work with reggae great Stephen Marley including the Platinum Album, “Welcome to Jamrock” (Damian “Jr Gong” Marley), which won a Grammy for Best Reggae Album and a Grammy for Best Alternative Single (2005).  Bonzai followed with Stephen Marley’s debut Album, “Mind Control,” winning a 2007 Grammy. Together, they re-recorded that album in an acoustic format, winning yet another Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2009. In 2010 Bonzai’s work on the “Distant Relatives” album with Nas and Damian Marley, held the #1 position on two Billboard charts and was a #1 download on iTunes.

Recognized for his “classic meets modern” arrangements and distinctive mixing techniques, Bonzai’s 20 year career boasts an “A” list of high profile clientele including  Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani, Madonna, Mary J. Blige, Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz as well as Gloria Estefan, K.D. Lang & Andy Bell, Natalie Cole, ‘N Sync, 98 Degrees, Britney Spears, Krystal Feat,  Boyz II Men, Notorious B.I.G., Faith Evans, Paula Abdul, Chaka Kahn, Jodeci, Sir Mix A Lot, Cyndi Lauper, Ice T, Rick James, Metropolitan Opera Symphony,  Latin Rascals, The Backstreet Boys and Toni Braxton.  He also has worked with such legends as Cher, Miles Davis, Diana Ross, Bette Midler and Luther Vandross, among others.
