ST. LOUIS — Ironman Sound Industries recently teamed up with Contemporary Productions to present St. Louis Fashion Week––Spring 2009 at the Lumiere Casino, which encompassed six shows in five days for over 2,000 guests.

The event featured contests for up-and-coming designers with a $30,000 grand prize, multimedia interactive art, music and dance installations and shows from Macys, FGI Fashion Group, Diesel, designers like Lori Coulter and “cult labels” like Wrath Arcane, Bolongaro Trevor and Love Brigade.  In most cases, ISI provided audio, video and lighting production. ISI production manager Nick Barnes and his crew even “hung black drapery around the room to make it look darker,” Barnes said.

Asked about the audio for an event where speech and music reproduction both played a key role, Barnes deployed “four Martin Audio W8LCs and two WS218X subs a side, plus four WT4s, all powered by Lab Gruppen PLM 1000s. We used a Yamaha MC7L to mix the show.

“The system was primarily designed to provide a music program while the models were on the runway,” Barnes added. “The client was very pleased with the intelligibility of the speech and music. There were a lot of techno tracks from the DJ that come through really well when the sound is crystal clear. We also grouped all of the 218Xs under the DJ riser side by side on the floor and it worked really well. The sound was definitely bumpin’ all over the room.”
