LOS ANGELES – Tim L. Nesbitt, known by many through the role he played as director of Southern California operations for West Coast Sound & Light (WCSL), passed away Jan. 6, 2011. He was 55, and leaves behind a wife, Margret.
The news of Nesbitt's passing came in an e-mail circulated by his former colleague Paul Doty, WCSL CEO, and also on a posting on www.wcsl.org.
According to the posting, Nesbitt, who suffered from congestive heart failure and had many strokes and heart attacks throughout his later years, died in his sleep. Prior to joining WCSL, he had run his own company and had worked for Showco. He had served as FOH engineer with the Bee Gees and with Wings' Wings Over America tour and was also reported present at the ill-fated Lynyrd Skynyrd crash site.
The text of Doty's e-mail message read as follows:
Hello friends. It is with a sad heart this morning that I'm letting friends and family know that we have lost Tim. Tim died in his sleep this morning after many years of illness. Tim loved the production industry and loved his time spent running the Southern California office for West Coast Sound & Light. Tim was a colorful soul and a one of a kind individual. Having cheated death on a number of occasions, he always felt like he was here on God's time, not his own. He would always tell me he was here as long as God wanted him here and he would go home when God said it was time for him to go home. No funeral is planned that I know of, however we all at WCSL plan on heading south at some point for a night out with Margret. Tim loved to head out for dinner, I can think of no better way to gather with those who knew him to celebrate his life until we see him again…home.
