NEW YORK – Robin Irvine, a New York-based tour manager for such acts as Cyndi Lauper, Foreigner, B-52’s, Eurythmics, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Robert Gordon and many others, died Aug. 21 at the age of 77.
“Robin was well loved,” noted his wife, Lisa Irvine, shortly after his passing. “He was a pretty great guy, and the outpouring of love and accolades have been flooding in from all over the world,” she added. “He has many Nashville connections because he has worked with so many acts, crew, and musicians.”
Lisa Irvine noted that Robin, who finished his studies at Portora Royal School, Enniskillen, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland in 1962, “was a musician in his own right, starting in Northern Ireland. He was the founding member of the Irish showband Chips and came to America in 1975, where his aspirations to remain a musician didn’t quite work out. He turned his charismatic, winning ways into an impressive career that spanned 30 years of tour management,” most recently with Counter Productions, from mid-2006 until his retirement.
An open-mic celebration of his life is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2022 at the Washington Irving Boat Club in Tarrytown, NY from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can share their memories and perhaps, if they wish, a song.
