HUDSON, FL — Veteran touring audio engineer Brian Post — whose roster of top clients included acts as such as Korn, Anthrax, Lamb of God, Mastodon and many others — passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, possibly of an aneurysm, on January 23, 2021. He was 48.

Born Sept. 30, 1972 in Tampa, FL, Post had an interest in music and audio from an early age. After working for a variety of sound companies — among them Carlton/Carey Events, Tantric Sound, Masque Sound and LD Systems — Post became a freelance audio engineer, doing front of house mixing and systems engineering.

However, his combination of musical experience and technical audio chops, combined with his easygoing attitude and ability to get along with artists — made Post ideally suited as a monitor mixer. After touring with Weird Al Yankovic, he later turned to his first love — mixing hard rock acts, working with bands ranging from Shinedown, GWAR, The Airborne Toxic Event and Amon Amarth, to Anthrax, Korn, Mastodon and Lamb of God — the latter for more than nine years — and dozens of one-off shows for sound companies such as SES Live Pro and Audio Analysts.

A lifelong Florida resident, Post would often fill in doing monitor mixing for Sixthman music cruises, treating passengers to top-end concerts while underway throughout the Caribbean from its home port in Miami. And in his spare time, he’d spend days exploring the Florida waters on his sailboat.

Brian Post is survived by his financée Michelle Jaco, his son Christopher, his brothers Jonathan and David, and countless friends and colleagues throughout the live sound industry. He will long be remembered for his sense of humor, impressive creative and technical skills and love of life. No word on a memorial service was available at press time.
