IAN-Audio, Meyer Sound Keep White Plains Festival Going After Downpour

WHITE PLAINS, NY- At the 2nd Annual White Plains City Festival on July 25, which drew close to 2,500 and featured The Benjamins, Tim Lovelace, J. Antonette and the Dojo Zumba dance crew, a sudden downpour threatened to throw things off. But it only lasted an hour, and didn't faze IAN-Audio, or the Meyer Sound system they had provided.
"This system was so crucial for this production, because we had less than three hours to set up and less than two hours to break it back down," noted IAN-Audio's Ash Krikorian, who worked with IAN's Mark Keshishian and audio engineer Tarik Solangi on the festival.

The Meyer Sound gear enabled IAN to take the "quality over quantity" approach, Krikorian added. "We also did not want to take up a lot of real estate on the grounds by splaying out dozens of speakers," he added, also crediting the Meyer gear for size vs. power ratio.

IAN-Audio's setup included two MSL 4s, four UPA 1Ps, four 650-P subs, one Allen & Heath GL2400 console, Klark Teknik Square One graphic equalizers and a Klark Teknik SQ1D: Square One dynamics processor.

"We were able to accommodate the entire festival with essentially six tops and four bottoms," noted Keshishian, who complimented the gear for its "punch," "clean sound" and truRMS limiting, which "eliminated the need for external limiters/processors," and, therefore, "racks of gear."

The system's constant Q horns helped the crew ensure that those in the listening area heard the same thing, and the design of the boxes let them put the sound where it was needed and helped keep it off the areas that would cause excess reflections.
