GEORGETOWN, TX – Loudspeaker manufacturer Fulcrum Acoustic and AV integration firm Ford Audio Video (Ford AV) teamed up for the first time to enhance the contemporary worship services of Main Street Baptist Church (MSBC). The church, which moved from a traditional sanctuary across the street, was looking for an audio system that could keep up with their energetic praise and worship style.

"We were in an 85-year old sanctuary that was limited in space, so moved across the street to a more flexible worship space," said John Sullivan, worship pastor for MSBC. "We offer two services, a contemporary worship and a more classic style of worship, but also use this space for conferences and meetings. It is important to us that the audio system wasn't overwhelming. We wanted a balanced sound system that matches the energy of our contemporary worship style."

Gary Ewald, MCSE, CTS, senior project engineer at Ford AV, worked closely with MSBC to transform the former site of a car dealership into a multipurpose ministry center capable of reaching 100 dB with ease. The rectangular multipurpose space has a low ceiling height of 17 feet in the center and slopes to 13 feet on the sides. At the heart of Ewald's distributed audio system design are 15 Fulcrum Acoustic CX1295 12 inch coaxial loudspeakers.

"Changing loudspeaker manufacturers for our designs is not done lightly. David Gunness [Fulcrum co-founder] conducted a demo of these loudspeakers for us and we were convinced," said Ewald. "The CX1295 is helpful because it's so small and can virtually disappear in the room. With the low ceiling and the high stage it made for difficult sight line. The CX1295s are installed very close to the ceiling and blend in quite well."

MSBC first used the system in early September at a dedication ceremony for their new space. Pastor Sullivan reports that the volunteer AV team responsible for running the audio, video, and lighting for the worship services has benefited from the training sessions provided by Ford AV staff, and by the overall ease of use of the system.

The Fulcrum CX1295 loudspeakers are processed using a BSS Audio Soundweb London BLU-16 digital signal processor and Level 1 (L1) TQ Processing settings from Fulcrum Acoustic. L1 TQ Processing settings allow for increased clarity and more crisp transitions between adjacent loudspeakers, among other benefits.

"We chose Fulcrum because the loudspeakers are small yet sound great," said Ewald.
