Drexelbrook Facility Upgrades With Community Cloud6 Gear

DREXEL HILL, PA — For nearly six decades, Drexelbrook has been used for weddings, proms, trade shows and corporate retreats, and the venue has also served as the locale for some of the early episodes of TV’s American Bandstand. Toner Sound helped with a major redesign of the venue’s sound system using Community’s Cloud6 ceiling speakers.

Now that it’s been redesigned, the 15,000-square-foot Corporate Events Center, which opened in 2000, stands as one of the largest AV facilities of its kind in the region. Before the project, however, there was ample room for improvement, according to Brian Latocha of Toner Sound.

“The old system was underpowered to begin with, and with the room’s 25-foot ceilings, it had been pushed to its limits for years, and was showing signs of age,” Latocha said. “We installed a distributed system of 60 Cloud6 loudspeakers, powered by three Crown CTS-Series amps, and the new system can easily reach up to 95 or 100 dB for larger corporate events.”

Lectrosonics DSP covers room combining tasks.

Despite the complexity of the job, “the biggest challenge was scheduling the job around Drexelbrook’s packed events calendar,” Latocha said. “Community gives you everything you need for a smooth install, right in the box. We completed the entire project in three days.”

“The new audio system enhances our impressive list of amenities we offer to our corporate, association and private markets,” said Drexelbrook CEO and general manager Domenick Savino. “The sound clarity is quite noticeable, and the first clients to use the system offered many positive comments. Simply having them ask ‘Did you get a new sound system?’ in itself justifies the investment. And Toner Sound did a great job installing the system.”
