LEICESTERSHIRE, UK — This year's Download festival, held at the Donnington race track, attracted 70,000 fans over 3 days. All the sound stages were supplied by companies using L-ACOUSTICS systems. SSE took care of the main stage with their new V-DOSC system, SKAN the second stage and STAGE AUDIO SERVICES supplied 5 other stages, all with L-ACOUSTICS loudspeakers and amplifiers. Paul Nicholson, from L-ACOUSTICS UK, was involved with the main stage design and was on site along with Paul Bauman, the head of technical support, to assist SSE with the installation of the system.
L-ACOUSTICS also supplied their KUDO demo rig for the main stage delays. This was the first time that the system had been used in this configuration in the UK. Nine boxes were used on each of the two delay positions.
SPL levels had to be trimmed back to comply with local noise regulations, but peak averages throughout the audience were around the 104 dB mark from front to back.
