LANCASTER, OH – DiGiCo has signed on with the second half of the 36-city HOW-TO Church Sound Workshop 2010 tour as the featured digital console sponsor. Earthworks microphones are also playing an integral role for the workshops.

Attendees will get hands-on training with DiGiCo's SD9 for the tour's remaining 18 dates, starting with a visit to Lancaster, OH on Aug. 7 and moving on to Alabama, Kansas, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan. Sound engineer Mike Sokol is leading the workshops.

"You have to be very pleased any time a manufacturer of top-quality audio gear recognizes the value of the worship marketplace and believes in education strongly enough to support our national workshops," said Hector La Torre, managing partner for Fits & Starts Productions and producer of the HOW-TO Church Sound Workshops.

"The HOW-TO Sound Workshops are dedicated to training church sound volunteers and technicians in the art and operation of sound system equipment," La Torre added. "The Workshops also present technology seminars at private recording schools and universities across the USA. Being responsible for tour logistics, interfacing with tour sponsors, and helping to create curriculum, I wanted our workshop attendees to gain exposure to the best equipment, and this led me to Earthworks-whose microphones are highly regarded in our industry."

The HOW-TO Sound Workshops are using Earthworks' PianoMic, FlexMic, and ChoirMic microphones "in a hands-on fashion where workshop attendees get to touch and listen to the mics in action," noted La Torre. "This enables our students to learn how to use the equipment properly when they get back to their respective churches. They are a great teaching tool and are an essential part of our training program."

"I've known Hector since I started in this business and have the utmost respect for all the different things he's done in his career," said Jack Kelly, owner of Group One Ltd., U.S. distributor of DiGiCo. "Becoming a sponsor of the HOW TO Sound Workshops on behalf of DiGiCo digital mixing systems was really a great opportunity to work with Hector, and of course, introduce our new SD9 console with Stealth digital technology to the HOW market."
