TAYLOR, MI — GC Pro account manager Paul Johnson and Guitar Center sales associate Paul Long worked with D.A.S. regional sales manager Steve Trimble on the new sound system installed at Metro South Church here.
The system, designed for the 124-by-124-foot sanctuary, which has a 22-foot ceiling, includes L-R hangs of 15 D.A.S. Audio Aero 12A enclosures — six elements per side — along with a center fill cluster with three modules. Two D.A.S. LX-215A powered band-pass subwoofers and eight LX-218CA powered subs provide low-end support.
“We stacked the subs on both sides of the stage, and this was done in a cardioid setup, with some sub enclosures turned around in order to reduce standing bass on the stage,” Johnson said.
Along with spoken-word intelligibility, the system is designed to optimize music, including the church’s youth-oriented praise band, Alive. Another key benefit, Johnson noted, was the unobstructed view of the stage area, made possible through the use of the D.A.S. powered speakers.
“We eliminated the requirement of having to house a rack of power amps, and since the power is integral to the enclosures, it’s optimized for each loudspeaker model. As a result, each of the three loudspeaker clusters could run on a single 15-amp circuit, making for a very efficient setup.”
