PUEBLO, CO – Unlike many other church installations, Crown of Life Church was a relatively new construction and didn't have the deep reverberation issues that tend to occur with older buildings. However, media director Dave Dauenhauer and pastor Mark Hayes are confirmed audiophiles, so installer Dan Keller of Dan Keller Audio Systems knew that he still needed to outfit the house of worship with a high-end system. He first turned to SLS Loudspeakers.
"There is one rule that I believe in, and that's to always put your money in your speaker system," said Keller. "If your speakers are bad, I don't care how good your electronics are, it's still going to sound bad. It's the most important link in the chain. And the people at SLS Loudspeakers have certainly built the better mousetrap."

Keller selected a pair of SLS 1290 TIs as the main speakers, and a pair of SLS 115 EL subwoofers.
"The SLS speakers are a perfect fit," said Dauenhauer. "As the "sound guy," I can't get over how well the speakers blend with the natural sound of the sanctuary. Bring up the fader and the pastor just sounds like his voice is carrying farther. I suppose the highest compliment is that no one notices the sound system. Intimate sound for 180 people. One parishioner who made it a point to sit in every area of the sanctuary noted, ‘There really isn't a bad seat in the house.'"
In addition to the SLS speakers, Keller also installed a Soundcraft GB4-24 with a DBX rack. He also utilized Harmon electronics and Crown power amplifiers for the rest of the rig.

Keller added that, like with many other SLS installs, the best comment that he gets from his clients is in regards to attendees with hearing deficiencies.
"My number one comment after I've done a system is, ‘we've stopped using our assisted hearing systems with our hard-of-hearing folks because they can hear just fine now,'" he said, noting that response as a positive endorsement of the system from those without hearing issues as well.
