SAN LUIS, AZ — Scam artists who posed as concert bookers lining up a well-known Mexican rock band, Mana, for an event here reportedly lined their pockets instead and made off with $50,000. The Mexico-based bookers reportedly accepted the money transfer in late 2011 for the city’s Barrier 2 Bridge conference in Feb. 2012, but the band never showed up. Despite an ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made. Although the police investigation remains open, the town council here recently voted to close their books and write off the loss.
