LUTON, UK — Peter Hearl, senior development manager at Cadac, pictured here, worked with the CDC development team on a video presentation of Cadac’s new digital mix platform. The video is viewable on the Cadac YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/user/cadacsound.
More details from Cadac (http://www.cadac-sound.com):
In the video, Hearl and his digital products design team present an overview of the “fully vertically integrated design and production system” that has bred the CDC eight — and its ultra compact sibling the CDC four; market driven product concepts he describes as putting Cadac’s stamp on the future development of digital mix technology.
The team of mechanical, electric, electronic and graphical design engineers represent a significant in-house accumulation of expertise and experience, including members who have been with Cadac for more than 35 years. It is in the development of the CDC eight platform that the team has truly made its mark. As Senior Design Engineer Glenn Ward puts it: “CDC eight is our flagship live mixing desk. Not only is it built upon the latest FPGA and SHARC technologies but it provides a touchscreen based user interface that is right there with the very latest and best mobile device touchscreen experience. It’s one of the most user friendly interfaces on any mixing desk in the world; effectively like a ‘glass cockpit’, allowing the engineer to see precisely everything he needs to see when he needs to see it.
“It changes the way you interface with the channel, using the new technology to its greatest advantage, rather than trying to copy analog technology. It’s built with the future in mind — this is just the beginning. A scalable design that can truly satisfy all markets.”
