Bass Performance Hall Goes Digital with Two Soundcraft Vi6 Consoles

FORT WORTH, TX – Performing Arts Fort Worth, a not-for-profit organization that owns and operates Bass Performance Hall, upgraded the venue's sound system with two Harman Soundcraft Vi6 digital consoles – one each at FOH and monitors. The consoles can also be moved and used at two satellite performance spaces within the complex, which opened in 1998.
"The sound quality was great right out of the box," said Doug Kirk, technical director of audio & acoustics systems for the venue, who tested the Vi6 in early 2011 and mixed four shows on it in a month's span, then placed the order for the two Vi6 consoles.

"Out of all our research and demos, the Soundcraft Vi6 was head and shoulders above every other digital console," Kirk added, crediting the consoles' Vistonics interface. "It feels like you're working on an analog board, not a computer, which makes our in-house engineers and visiting FOH mixers happy."

The console area, which had required a 12 by 12 foot space, has been reduced to 8 by 6 feet, enabling the 2,056 Bass Performance Hall to expand its seating arrangements.

"Not only do the larger-name bands and Broadway tours enjoy the console, but members of our local engineering union are extremely excited to get their hands on it and offer the community great sound," Kirk added.
