Bartlett Microphones Launches with TM-125

ELKHART, IN — The Bartlett Microphones TM-125 is a supercardioid boundary mic designed for use on the theatre stage to pick up actors in drama or musicals. The TM-125 can also be used to capture the footwork of dance groups and for picking up speech in boardrooms, conferences, pulpits and altar tables.

Designer Bruce Bartlett, who developed the product with Steve Mills, said the TM-125 is smaller, lower-cost, more durable and with a smoother frequency response than industry-standard floor mics. Each unit is tuned and voiced to match others within +/- 1.5 dB, and every unit is made in the U.S., tested and backed by tech support from the design engineers.

Bartlett added that the TM-125 is made using miniature capsule technology to prevent phase cancellations due to sound reflections off the stage floor or table top, noting that this results in a wide, smooth frequency response free of comb filtering, so speech sounds clear and natural.

With its steel housing and low-profile construction, the TM-125 is designed to withstand stomping that would seriously impair other microphones. All electronics are inside the housing. A supplied XLR mic cable plugs into a connector in the side of the microphone.

Bartlett adds that the tight supercardioid polar pattern of the TM-125 helps gain-before-feedback, and provides excellent isolation from sounds behind the mic, such as a pit orchestra. The microphone picks up sound while rejecting mechanical vibrations.

The TM-125’s frequency response is 80 Hz to 18 kHz, rising at high frequencies to clarify speech. The signal-to-noise ratio is 72 dB at 94 dB SPL. The maximum SPL is 120 dB SPL, which produces 3 percent THD, keeping audible distortion to a minimum. It is available in a black or white finish and is priced at $199 plus $10 for shipping.
