PORTLAND, OR — Whirlwind has added Audinate’s Dante networking technology to its PXP (Protocol eXchange Platform) line of products. The PXP, Whirlwind’s first Dante-enabled product, allows users to convert digital audio signals on Dante networks to and from other networking formats. There is no loss of audio quality because no D/A or A/D conversions are required. Dante-based PXPs are available now from Whirlwind.
“We are excited to offer our customers the ability to add Audinate’s Dante audio networking capabilities in the PXP,” said Michael Laiacona, president of Whirlwind. “We now can offer customers with existing networks, the flexibility to expand their installations using Dante.”
Audinate’s Dante technology provides a self-configuring plug-and-play digital audio network that uses standard Internet Protocols over 100MB and/or Gigabit Ethernet. The company also noted that Dante combines low latency and sample-accurate playback timing with the convenience and economy of using standard computer networking hardware.
