ATLANTA – The dogwood trees were in bloom in mid-April, and so were two major three-day events: the 75th annual Dogwood Festival in Piedmont Park and the seventh annual SweetWater 420 Fest at Candler Park. Soundcos supporting the Dogwood and SweetWater events were, respectively, Atlanta Audio Visual and Rock Quarry Productions. Both provided RCF TT+ systems.
The Atlanta Dogwood Festival, originally held for nine days across two weekends, is now focused on one weekend. With several stages and continuously performances, the festival gives upcoming artists a chance to play before a wider audience. This year's lineup included Charlie Wayne Watson, Arena Sound, Off the Grid, Frets on Fire, OGYA World Music Band, SALSAtlanta, 3052 Dub Collective and others.
Atlanta Audio Visual's system for the main stage included RCF TTL55-A (six per side) and TTS56-A subwoofers (three per side). "You can hear a true stereo sound from the rig," said Brad McWhorter, AAV CEO. He also credited the system for "great-sounding DSP" and efficient power consumption, and added that RCF software helped the crew calculate throw distances and splay for each box. "We can set up 16 tops and 10 subs within 30 minutes and be ready to pass signal," McWhorter said.

The SweetWater 420 Fest drew as many as 30,000 people with music, art and environmentally themed events, with free beer tastings by the main sponsor, SweetWater Brewery, drawing crowds as well.
This year's lineup included Galactic, Railroad Earth, Arrested Development, 7 Walkers with Bill Kreutzmann of the Grateful Dead and others. Rock Quarry Productions supplied a TT+ system to the main stage, with RCF TTL55-A (eight per side) and TTS56-A subwoofers (four per side).
Jay Holem, owner of Rock Quarry Productions, said the concert promoter, audience members and band engineers were all "blown away" by the system. He was concerned at first that the PA could adequately cover the audience, but was soon reassured. "We were all amazed at the sound quality and power" of both the loudspeakers and subwoofers, calling the latter "the most powerful and articulate large-format subs I have experienced to date."
