RIDGEFIELD, WA — Dan Braun, general manager for the 18,000-seat Sleep Country Amphitheater, based here, turned SG Audio Aps’ 10EaZy system, distributed in North America via Rational Acoustics, to ensure that he — and the amphitheater’s residential neighbors — could all rest a little easier about excessive noise concerns.

PUTNAM, CT — Dan Braun was in a tight situation. His old Grozier SPL monitoring system had exhaled its last breath, and he was staring at a Mötley Crüe date only days away. As general manager of the Sleep Country Amphitheater, an 18,000-seat live music venue located 20 miles outside of Portland, Oregon, he needed a solution and he needed it fast. Enter 10EaZy and Rational Acoustics.

The Country Amphitheater, based in Ridgefield, WA, turned SG Audio Aps’ 10EaZy system, distributed in North America via Rational Acoustics, for an SPL monitoring solution. As Braun explains, “The Sleep Country Amphitheater has extremely strict operating regulations regarding SPL levels at the mix position (as do many other facilities) and the essence of our ability to operate the venue is dependent on our adherence to the regulations imposed on us. In addition to managing the levels during the show we are required to submit timely reports detailing the Leq levels throughout the event. These documents must be able to withstand the highest scrutiny.”

Luckily Braun, who is also happens to be the Production Designer for Metallica, had heard about 10EaZy from Metallica FOH Engineer Mick “Big Mick” Hughes. So he reached out to SG Audio Aps, the developer of the 10EaZy system, for a solution. One quick call later to Rational Acoustics, SG Audio’s US Distributor, and a 10EaZY Class 1 System was winging its way to Braun, arriving less than 48 hours before Mötley Crüe was due to hit the stage.

“10EaZy is above and beyond anything we could have possibly expected.” says Braun. “The 10EaZy system was everything it promised; painless to set up, intuitive to use, graphically friendly for the bands’ engineers, and accurate (we compared the results to a B&K meter we have calibrated annually for legal reasons). It even emailed a complete report of the show minutes after its conclusion.”

“This is the stuff we live for.” says Karen Anderson, COO of Rational Acoustics. “Providing innovative technology solutions for audio professionals to help them do their job better, faster & more effeciently. And the fact that we were able to get Dan the solution he needed in the face of a looming deadline is even better.”
