JACKSON, TN – For 25 years Tennessee Concert Sound has turned to AKG gear for its sound reinforcement needs. So when the soundco supported Union University's annual Scholarship Banquet – for the 12th consecutive year – it relied once more on AKG gear for a keynote speech given by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
"We trust AKG to deliver excellent quality sound, dependability, and versatility without interruption in all of our most critical applications," said Stewart Tritt, owner of Tennessee Concert Sound. "We cannot run up and replace a microphone during these events; they simply must work. AKG's frequency agile products also give us the consistency we need."
Union University's annual banquets have featured keynote speakers from other prominent government officials in the past, including former president George Bush, former U.K. prime minister Margaret Thatcher, and former Soviet premiere and Nobel Peace Prize winner Mikhail Gorbachev.
For this most recent event, held at the Carl Perkins Civic Center in December, Tennessee Concert Sound provided Rice with an AKG a podium microphone with CK-80 capsule. Union University president Dr. David S. Dockery, meanwhile, also used an AKG 4000 frequency agile wireless system with CK 77 lavalier microphone to deliver the opening and closing presentations.
In addition to the speeches, choral and classical music selections were performed leading up to the main event, and Tennessee Concert Sound turned to a dbx Drive Rack 4800 to drive the system.
"We pride ourselves in fulfilling our client's goal of pristine sound quality at every corner of the auditorium," Tritt said. "Feedback control, intelligibility, excellent signal-to-noise ratio, and immunity to dropouts are critical at this event, and with the AKG microphones, we get all of that and more."
Along with Tritt, Tennessee Concert Sound principals supporting the event included Bernie Bernil, who serves as the firm's resident sound designer and consultant, and Andy Roark, the company's lead audio engineer and crew chief.
