GUILDFORD, U.K. — The tour manager and one of the 10 singers for Fisherman’s Friends, a male vocal group, died from injuries caused by a falling steel loading dock door at the G Live venue here. Tour manager Paul McMullen, 44, died at the scene of the freakish accident, which occurred during the mid-day load-in for a performance Feb. 9. The show was cancelled. Singer Trevor Grills, 54, was also pinned by the heavy steel door. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries Feb. 11.
A spokesman for Fisherman’s Friends, a group specializing in performances of sea shanties that had performed at the Glastonbury Music Festival and elsewhere, said the group’s members were “devastated” by the loss. Authorities including police and health and safety officials are investigating the cause.
