Ashly are happy to celebrate a promising new installation at Iron City Distillery in Pittsburgh, PA, thanks to system designer David Batistig of PVSL Pro Audio & Lighting. David made use of Ashly’s AQM1208 in combination with several amplifiers and an Allen & Heath CQ-12T to support the room’s wall-mounted loudspeaker system.
The goal of this install was to control the sound in a reflective space and to support playback of background music, corporate presentations, and live acoustic musical acts. With the help of the Ashly AQM1208, an advanced zone DSP mixer, the sound is controllable in 2 different zones, including the upper and lower levels of the distillery. Positive end-results were achieved with 12 fully-featured microphone inputs and the DSP’s specialty Auto-Mixing, Priority Ducking, and noise-masking features, among others.
Says David Batistig, “The Ashly AQM processor was selected for ease of use. It fit the bill for what was needed to control multiple zones and the ability to expand the system in the future should the need arise. The A&H CQ series mixer was [similarly] chosen due to its ease of use and the well known A&H sound quality, and we were able to easily train the Distillery staff on how to operate it for their acoustic acts and other events.”
The AQM1208 showcases Ashly’s newly updated and intuitive AquaControl™ software, allowing for better control of all aspects of the DSP’s functionality. The AquaControl™ platform also supports remote access, allowing the user to control and configure the unit from anywhere in the world, and enabling remote technical support.
“Ashly is proud to be a part of the Iron City Distillery Installation in Pittsburgh”, said Noel Larson GM of Ashly Audio. “This speaks to the power and flexibility inherent in the AquaControl software and the AQM1208, which is able to handle just about any situation.”
With the new system, the distillery successfully hosted their first acoustic show a few weekends back, with positive results. This use of the Ashly AQM1208 was a perfect solution to a location seeking to combine both business, corporate, and live music all within the same location. The AQM1208 enhanced and provided all the functionality needed for this specialty install, and Ashly is proud to have supported both PVSL Pro Audio & Lighting and Iron City Distillery in this effort.
