2013 MIPA Awards Announced

FRANKFURT, Germany — Line 6, JBL, DPA, Behringer and PreSonus were among the gear brands in the winner’s circle at the 2013 MIPA awards presented at Musikmesse here April 11. Here’s a quick recap of the categories and sub-categories along with the nominated and winning products most relevant for live sound technicians.

In the Pro Audio categories, nominees and winners were recognized in categories including Portable Sound, PA System, Live Microphones/IEMs and Live Mixing Desks.

 

In the Portable Sound category, nominated products included Yamaha’s STAGEPAS 400i/600i, HK Audio’s Lucas Nano 300 and Line 6’s StageSource L3t powered speaker (pictured, left). Line 6 won.

 

JBL VTXIn the PA System category, nominated products included d&b audiotechnik’s V-Series, JBL’s VTX (pictured, right) and NEXO’s STL. JBL won.

 

DPA d:facto vocal micIn the Live Microphones/IEMs category, nominated products included the DPA d:facto II vocal mic (pictured, left), Sennheiser’s Digital 9000 wireless system and AKG’s D12 VR kick drum mic. DPA won.

 

Behringer X32 digital mixing consoleIn the Live Mixing Desks category, nominated products included Behringer’s X32 digital mixer (pictured, right), DiGiCo’s SD5 and Soundcraft’s Si Performer. Behringer won.

 

Over in the Studio category, prizes were awarded for Recording Software and Mixing Desk (Project Studio) categories, among others.

PreSonus Studio One 2.5Within the Recording Software category, nominated products included MOTU Digital Performer 8, PreSonus Studio One 2.5 (pictured, left) and Steinberg Cubase 7. PreSonus won.

 

PreSonus StudioLive 16.0.2In the Mixing Desk (Project Studio) category, nominated products included Allen & Heath’s GS-R24, Behringer’s X32 and PreSonus’ StudioLive 16.0.2 (pictured, right). PreSonus won.
