JOHANNESBURG – Yamaha Music South Africa recently hosted a four-day Yamaha Audioversity training event at the World of Yamaha in Johannesburg. The training was presented by Yamaha audio expert Andy Cooper and drew wide participation from across the pro audio industry.

More details from Stage Audio Works (www.stageaudioworks.com):

Andy Cooper, who has been with Yamaha since 1999, led the training. With decades of experience, including the development of global Dante training courses and over 150 technical videos on Yamaha’s YouTube channel, Cooper brought expertise and insight to the sessions, offering attendees a hands-on approach to Yamaha’s digital sound technologies, from mixing consoles to deep-dives into networked audio systems.

The action-packed workshops, held across four days, were structured to explore Yamaha’s full ecosystem of professional audio solutions. Training began with an overview of Yamaha’s MI-PA systems and the compact DM3 digital mixing console, progressing through the DM7 series and culminating in an in-depth session on the flagship RIVAGE PM series. The final day focused on complete audio system training, providing participants with a well-rounded understanding of Yamaha’s solutions and their real-world applications.

As a Yamaha Pro Audio partner, Stage Audio Works supported the event and engaged with clients throughout the training. “Having the opportunity to engage with our clients in an environment where mutual learning and knowledge sharing is the foundation of the interaction, brings a different and welcome dynamic,” says Gary Furman, Sales Professional at Stage Audio Works, reflecting on the value of the event. “The focus here was to learn and progress as individuals, professionals, and as companies.”

“Events like these highlight that as much as there are plenty of online training resources for users of these products, having an experienced and knowledgeable expert to answer questions, as well as a physical product to touch, feel and listen to, is an invaluable medium to experience the products and their capabilities,” continues Furman, highlighting the importance of in-person training opportunities in today’s increasingly digital landscape.

The training was exceptionally well attended, drawing professionals from a wide range of sectors, including live events, houses of worship, educational institutions, and freelance engineers. The dynamic and collaborative atmosphere allowed attendees to engage directly with the technology and gain practical insights that are often difficult to replicate online.

Yamaha Music South Africa look forward to building on the success of this event and continuing to support the growth of local competency and capability through the education of audio professionals in the region.
