The “new” Teatro Splendor of Aosta, in northern Italy, which was inaugurated on the 3rd March 2013, has now been fully restored thanks to the intervention of the Regional Administration after three years of hard work and numerous bureaucratic issues.
Today, the Splendor not only hosts plays and movies, it has also been fully equipped for conferences and meetings. The theatre includes a main room with 500 seats, a smaller room for rehearsals and a third area that seats 90 people.
The third room is acoustically attuned, autonomous but can be connected to the main room regarding audio and video contents. This third area in particular underwent massive intervention with the purpose of creating more space for the main stage, which was quite small.
A mobile platform has also been installed in front of the main stage that can be lowered to floor level, thus creating a space for an orchestra if required.
Detailed research took place to find solutions to optimize the space and recovery; the technical equipment was thoroughly evaluated to contain the volumes without impairing quality.
Decima, the Italian company in charge of the project and of the installation of the new scenic system, including video, audio and lights had no hesitations about what was required.
Taking into consideration the specific needs for audio equipment, they turned to Exhibo, K-array’s distributor in Italy, to select the most suitable models from the catalogue of the Tuscan manufacturer.
Guido Diamanti of Exhibo designed a system with two active KH15 speakers per side, powerful yet extremely thin line arrays for the main room, creating the perfect set up for the Splendor with regards to space and flexibility.
The theatre includes two KS4 dipole, active subwoofers, delivering more energy and fullness even in low frequencies magnifying a great sound hidden within the new design of the building.
The 90-seated room had different needs; it was equipped with a KR100S system consisting of a stereo system with one head for high or medium-high frequencies on each side and a KL12ma sub that is portable, versatile, light but high in quality; capable of adapting to the variety of possibilities the room has to offer.
Among the several stars present at the inauguration, Francesco Renga, in particular, publicly complimented the theatre for its excellent acoustics and facilities, after using it for his own exhibition.
