VIENNA, Austria — Winning singer Darko Lazic couldn’t be accused of having an unfair advantage for Zvezde Granda, the Serbian equivalent of American Idol. All seven of the contest’s finalists, who sang at Belgrade Arena before 18,000, and millions more watching TV, used AKG WMS 450 wireless microphones supplied by production vendor Studio Berar. AKG touts the WMS 450 as a good choice when several radio microphones are used simultaneously, as was the case for Zvezde Granda’s finale; and for that finale, the stakes were high. “This year, they had the highest watched show in Serbia on Saturday nights,” noted Alfred Reinprecht, AKG’s vice president of marketing and product management.
In addition to the WMS 450, Studio Berar also provided AKG’s WMS 40 Pro Flexx. The WMS 40 Pro Flexx comes with a handheld transmitter that can operate for 30 hours off a single AA size battery.
Zvezde Granda is organized by the Grand Production record label and broadcast live on commercial television throughout the Balkans. In addition to providing production assistance, Studio Berar contributes all the AKG pro audio equipment that is awarded to the contestants as final prizes.
