ROSTOV, Russia – For a restoration of the Rostov Cathedral, MixArt worked with sound designer Oleg Sherbakov on a sound system upgrade that included the use of K-array gear. K-array was informed of some of the details of that development at its GDM (Global Distributor Meeting) held in Tuscany, Italy and shared the news in a press release.

More details from K-array (http://www.k-array.com/en/):

TUSCANY, Italy – K-array’s GDM (Global Distributor Meeting) is not only a time of news and company announcements, it is also a unique opportunity to meet and talk with distributors and dealers, who came to Tuscany from all over the world.

At the recent GDM in early October we had a chance to chat with Ekaterina Anonova, Head of Advertising and PR for MixArt Distribution, K-array’s dealer in Moscow. “We came across the Italian brand, Ekaterina said, during Prolight + Sound in Frankfurt a few years back.  We were immediately impressed by the design of the products and by the quality and power. The speakers are so small that one wonders where the sound comes from! It was love at first sight, and today we suggest K-array to our customers who are looking for aesthetics and great power to size ratio. We see a bright future with K-array” Ekaterina commented.

One of several opportunities to use a K-array system took place more than a year ago in Rostov Cathedral where the Governor of the Rostov Region, Vasily Golubev, chaired the first meeting of the Board of Trustees for the restoration of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin. A great reference for the brand, and for MixArt’s client, the sound designer Oleg Sherbakov.

The cathedral was designed by renowned architect KA Ton in 1860 and is part of the historical and artistic heritage of the region. The board discussed and planned the long list of interventions to do many of which required major structural changes and restoration of works of art. Two high tech ultra-light powered KR202 stereo systems were arranged behind the meeting table to amplify the voices of the Board. The quality of output and directivity was essential to control the reverberation due to the wide spaces of the cathedral. Another system was installed in the balcony: two modules of the KK102 system were used on the downside for a better sound coverage of the space … During the talk’s old traditions and new technologies met in a monumental place of worship, as had never been done before. Brilliant and round like the golden domes of the Cathedral of Rostov.
