SYDNEY – Peter Freedman AM, founder and chairman of RØDE Microphones will host an Australian TV series showcasing 40 of the best innovations and designs drawn from entries for the Australian Good Design Awards.

Australia By Design Innovation is a brand-new television series airing on Australian television networks TEN and ONE, from this week. The series features six episodes, each half an hour long, and showcases 40 of the best innovations and designs drawn from the thousands of entries for the Australian Good Design Awards.
Peter Freedman AM, Founder and Chairman of RØDE Microphones, is one of the four judges on the panel, joined by Sam Lanyon (Executive Director and co-founder of Planet Innovation), Ben Cooper (Managing Director of Tricky Jigsaw), and Edward Khoury (Founder and Managing Director of Form Designs Australia).
Hosted by architect Tim Horton and copresented by Good Design Australia CEO, Dr. Brandon Gien and Terri Winter (Founder, Top3 by Design) each episode features eight different innovations, from which a top 10 will be chosen for episode six. The show’s expert panel of judges will then decide which innovation is most worthy to be titled Australia’s Innovation of the Year.
RØDE’S gamechanging VideoMic SoundField – announced at the Las Vegas RØDESHOW 17 in January – is a featured product in the competition.
Freedman is honoured to be part of the competition, which – on the back of RØDE’s sponsorship of Good Design Awards Young Designer categories – is another facet of RØDE’s support for Australian design.
“I’ve always had a genuine appreciation for beautiful, functional design – it is a core principle underpinning RØDE’s success,” Peter says. “All of the entrants produced incredible innovations: elegant solutions across so many disciplines, from a shark-repellent surfboard to life-saving smoke-detectors in the bush. Design is such a fundamental part of being human, it’s wonderful to see such talent in Australia. Australia By Design Innovation is a great show, and it’s a privilege to be part of it.”
