Rivalta Cafe Equipped with K-array System

FLORENCE, Italy — Omikron Sound e Light, based here, installed a K-array audio system for the recently refurbished Rivalta Café, a gathering spot offering food, drink and music along the banks of the River Arno. The new system includes 12 Kobra KK50vb speakers, four KL12 subwoofers, two KT20 speakers and four KA7-7 amplifiers.

More details from K-array (www.k-array.com):

Here is one of the best boulevards along the banks of River Arno, which witnessed the evolution of this town from a small urban center to an international finance, business and culture powerhouse, up to the present status of one of the indisputable art giants worldwide over the last 2000 years of history. However, Florence is also a town full of life, both for residents and visitors. The breathtaking sunset on River Arno enjoyed along the banks of River Arno southwards is simply overwhelming. This is also the location of the new Lounge Club Rivalta, inaugurated a few weeks ago. The name itself recalls the concept of “riva” i.e. river bank in Italian, from where one may enjoy the best of such awe-inspiring beauty.

As explained by Elio Di Franco, who oversaw the restructuring and aesthetic renovation designing of the place, the Rivalta rooms have long been a fun spot. However, the high vaults and the ancient frescoes of the historical building reveal an entirely different aspect today. The light colour of the walls, the grotesques of the frescoes, the straw seats as well as the large chandeliers recalling the shapes of outdoor aviaries accompany the patrons in a cheerful atmosphere similar to that of a garden.

A garden to enjoy great music. Lorenzo Nigro, one of the owners, is actually a great soundman and renowned Florence night life entertainer and as regards Rivalta, he set several evening music events. For this reason, he needed to install a system that was simultaneously “vigorous” and of high quality to support the performance of the guest DJs and discrete enough not to interfere with the clean and cheerful lines of the rooms.

Omikron, one of the most renowned rental companies in Florence and specialised in audio, proposed K-array right away. Its compactness and production power perfectly suited the Rivalta needs.

Thus, the system includes 12 Kobra KK50vb speakers (with white finishing to match the walls). These are compact line arrays made up of eight 2” neodymium transducers offering a wide distribution angle definable both vertically and horizontally. Furthermore, the system allows the 16 or 64 Ohm configuration, which actually overcomes the need of 70V transformers in case of distributed installations. The Kobras (which offer a frequency response ranging between 150 Hz and 19 kHz) are “supported” in the base range by four KL12 subwoofers and they are completed by two KT20 miniaturized passive speakers, capable of a maximum SPL even reaching 107 dB. The interior DSPs of the four KA7-7 amplifiers, connected to another external process, allowed a quick and accurate optimisation of the system, defining a series of distribution areas with differentiated source and/or volume, depending on the use of the various spaces. The system could be used right away and it perfectly met the ideas and challenges Nigro and his partners were faced with.

So, if you love Florence, sunset, classy places and above all the K-array style, Rivalta is the place to be.
