PARIS, France — Every year on the Summer Solstice, hundreds of thousands of revelers enjoy music at stages set around picturesque Paris locations at the free “Fete de la Musique” event. Amadeus — French manufacturer of high-end live sound systems — outfitted the EDM stage with live sound. The system featured the company’s DIVA XL arrays, with its PMX 15 coaxial speakers used as stage monitors/front-fills, as well as the new prototype Amadeus Maestro subwoofer.

Maestro takes a step forward in subwoofer technology and design with a unique combination of both low power handling capacity and ultra high-efficiency with dual high-linear excursion 15-inch horn-loaded speakers mounted in a push-pull mode. At the Fete de la Musique’s EDM stage, only eight Maestro subs, paired with two Lab.gruppen C88:4 amps provided 155dB max SPLs at 25 Hz. More than 10,000 people attended the EDM event at the stunning Place du Palais Royal in downtown Paris.

Commenting on the Amadeus’ live sound setup, DJ Michaël Canitrot said, “I was very impressed by the power, the pureness and the spectral quality of the Amadeus live sound system throughout the whole listening area. I was totally satisfied by the new Amadeus prototype subwoofer, it provided deep, clear and powerful natural-sounding bass.” Amadeus has stated 24 standard double-18 subs, using 24 amplifier channels, would be required to equal eight Maestro subwoofers run on just two amps. Still in prototype-testing after six years of development, Maestro is set for public release in 2014, although so far it has seen use in pop, classical and rock venues with artists ranging from the Berliner Philharmoniker, Joe Cocker, Carlos Santana, Keith Jarrett, Herbie Hancock, and many others.

At the Fete de la Musique, the prototype Maestro subwoofers were placed on the ground, complementing the Amadeus DIVA XL array speaker systems hung above on stage rigging. Released in 2000, the Amadeus DIVA XL line array element is the company’s premiere system for reinforcement to form a coherent line source system cluster.

The DIVA XL speakers are optimized for a 10-degree maximum vertical dispersion and 100-degrees on the horizontal axis at 60 Hz to 20,000 Hz. This 2-way active speaker, with passive filtering at 250 Hz for the low-mid loudspeaker is used with the DIVA XL 15, to extend the frequency response down to 35 Hz (up to 110 Hz). The choice of speaker and electrical components are intended to matching the philosophy of the studio monitors that Amadeus has developed for top artists and studios for the past 20 years.

Also at the EDM stage several PMX 15 coaxial systems were used as front fills. The PMX 15 system offer tight imaging and an extended, flat response from 50 Hz to 20k Hz. The PMX 15 is designed for use in sound reinforcement applications in concert halls, auditoriums, theaters, clubs, or even touring applications as stage monitors.
