The ride is an open-air train that travels through the woods with several stopping points along the way to watch the most famous scenes from the book acted out by a cast of 30 actors.

Sound designer Jan Juul Hansen set forth in testing samples yet quickly determined that a K-array system was the perfect solution.

The KAN200 Anakonda was selected for the main PA on the exhibit’s three 4-wagon trains with two of the flexible speakers on each wagon paired with a KMT12P subwoofer powered by a KA24 amplifier. An additional set was installed as a monitor in the central control station to provide the sound tech with synched audio with the train.

The Anakonda is K-array’s flexible, 2 m array element with eight 1” Neodymium magnet transducers with a 0.75” voice coil that can handle up to 150 W of power with a maximum SPL output of 102 dB peak. A KAN200+ model is also available.

The audio system was developed in Denmark where Hansen created a customized, 6 m built-in compartment on the overhead trellis of the wagon to house and hide the Anakondas. It was then shipped to the train facility in Haren EMS, Germany, where they were assembled on the trains, before being sent to the Norwegian zoo.

Once the trains were ready for implementation, the Anakondas were linked to a complex system that mixed the actors’ speech with music tracks for final audio output and that is easily controllable for the actors remotely.

MAVT Midtjysk was proud of the results and TL Production is happy with its continued success:

“There is only one system like this in the world and thanks to K-array, we are happy it has elevated our program to a new level of professionalism!”
