LUQA, Malta — For the new Sky Spirit Fitness Lounge here, Futuretech installed a sound system that includes Powersoft’s multi-channel Ottocanali amplifiers. The gym’s owner, Stefan Farrugia, cited power efficiency and the compact size of the units as key selling points.

More details form Powersoft (www.powersoft-audio.com):

After working with the Italian electronics specialists for nearly six years, proprietor Stefan Farrugia knew that Powersoft’s multi-channel Ottocanali solution would provide an economy of rack space and consume less power. “Aside from its green credentials,” he said, “The new Ottocanali series is amazing, providing eight channels with plenty of power.”

The gym’s owner, Stefan Farrugia, cited power efficiency and the compact size of the units as key selling points. This series of power amplifiers offers up to a total of 12,000W at 4Ω — making them ideal for multi-zone applications in mid to large-scale installations. All versions in the Series feature Aux signal inputs and adequate GPI/O, as well as mono-bridgeable channel pairs (configurable in different options).

Futuretech was chosen by the contractor in view of the company’s vast experience and portfolio of prestigious projects, developed over the years. In addition, the company already knew the customer (Sky Spirit Ltd).

The complex itself is divided into six different zones: Main Gym; Reception; Fitness Class 1; Fitness Class 2, Fitness VIP Class and Changing Room/Bathroom.

In addition, overlooking the fitness lounge is a mezzanine DJ balcony and helping Sky Spirit generate an atmosphere with their specially-created playlists are some of the most prominent DJ’s to help members gain an extra edge to their workout!

Specified to drive the multi-zone DAS Arco speakers are a pair of Ottocanali 2U 4K4 amplifiers, providing a total of up to 4,000W over eight channels. These power the DAS Arco subs and Arco 24 (in the main gym and three fitness class rooms) while a single Ottocanali 1204, delivering up to 1,280W total output power from a single 1RU device, drives 12 x DAS CL6 ceiling speakers. These are powering the Reception and Changing areas. All processing takes place in a separate 8 x 8 audio matrix.

In each of the three class rooms there is a micro wal-mount mixer with a microphone signal whereby a mic can be connected to another source. In addition, each class has its own dedicated network media player and router. This enables the instructor to stream music wirelessly from his playlist stored on any Apple device. And since each class has a separate airplay network, all classes can simultaneously play different music.

This is the latest in a long line of successes for Powersoft on the island — including Hugo’s Lounge and adjacent Bacco Wine Taverna, Medasia Fusion Lounge and Casablanca Lounge Bar name a few. Meanwhile, Stefan Farrugia is currently working on a potent dance system on the nearby island of Gozo, where Powersoft amplifiers are being specified to drive a Funktion One sound rig.
