KAGA CITY, Japan — K-array’s Japanese distributor Livegear supported the Kaga Music Festival here last September with a K-array setup that included KH4, KS4, KO70 and KR402 speakers. The gear held up and performed well despite less-than-ideal weather conditions.

More details from K-array (www.k-array.com):

Hot water springs, rolling hills, lush green pastures, and a wonderful climate are what have made Kaga City, located in the southern tip of the Ishikawa province, a popular holiday destination… and a popular location for playing music.

The Kaga Music Festival, held last September, is where rock music meets  Japanese pop and DJ dance mixes. The Kaga Hot Spring Festival had a line-up of bands and singers – for a total of 17 performances, that started from lunch time and went on until dawn. From music, to food, to shows, audiences could enjoy it all from the Main stage to the Free stage. Although the weather was not the greatest, more than 7,000 people showed up. The location chosen for the concert was a vast green field located between the waterways of Kaga City. This is where we found our K-array speakers.

The music needed to cover the huge field and rise above the strong whistling wind that characterizes this area of Japan; battling the strength of wind is a strong challenge which was what Kaga Festival’s organizers found amazing in the power of K-array speakers. The stage was set up by a numerous technical staff and equipped with a sound system that could stand up to challenges.  Six KH4 speakers, three of which were suspended, were set up on both sides of the stage,  two KS4 on both sides of the stage were also mounted to guarantee that the entire area was covered and that all frequency levels were taken care of.  Just to make sure to get it right, two KO70 were placed on either side and two KR402 were used as a front fill. A complete and powerful system fit for music to be heard in such a vast space. It actually came as no surprise that it was perfect because the system was tested during the planning stages using EASE software.

Thanks to K-array and above all thanks to Livegear, K-array’s Japanese distributor, the festival was a huge success. Prior to the festival, Livegear had held a demo for the rental company in charge of the festival’s technical aspects. The demo proved what Livegear had promised and delivered the results. There are few that can fight against the wind, and even fewer that can win.
