MARCOUSSIS, France – L-Acoustics, which unveiled plans for its KARA/SB18 pilot program at Prolight + Sound 2010 in Frankfurt, now reports that the pilot program is underway, with participants including members of the L-Acoustics Rental Network.
The initial companies taking part are U.K.-based rental companies SFL and Plus 4 Audio, French events specialist Impact Evénement, Wilhelm & Willhalm from Germany and global services provider PRG, all of which have facilities located near L-Acoustics' R&D and technical support team at L-Acoustics' headquarters and offices.
The program is emphasizing preset validation, system configuration and design, rigging and general system setup and operation.
"We are pleased with the overwhelmingly positive responses we have had since proposing this scheme at Frankfurt, especially from our existing dV-DOSC users," said Stéphane Ecalle, L-Acoustics marketing director. "With a design inspired by our new K1 stadium system, KARA delivers a considerable number of improvements over its predecessor: added LF resources for increased bandwidth and coherence, improved directivity control in the horizontal plane, vertical inter-element variation up to 10 degrees, and improved ergonomics thanks to an integrated rigging system and lighter weight."
The KARA/SB18 pilot program is expected to run throughout the summer in preparation for KARA's official launch, scheduled for September.
