SAALBACH HINTERGLEMM, Austria — Musik Lenz GmbH, K-array’s Austrian distributor, installed K-array audio gear in the the Wiesergut Boutique Hotel including KT20CWma and KZ10 components.
More details from K-array (www.karray.com):
Sepp and Martina Kroell have transformed a 14th century family estate into a modern retreat that exudes organic warmth and comfort: the Wiesergut Boutique Hotel, snuggled in Saalbach Hinterglemm, is just a one hour drive from Saltzburg. The renovation project, headed up by the architectural firm Gogl & Partner, has created a distinctive alpine hideaway distinguished by its modern design and integration with nature.
A fixed installation of a modern sound system was an important component of the renovation plan. Musik Lenz GmbH, K-array’s Austrian distributor was called in. “We decided to use KT20CWma in all areas for calm background music, and a Lyzard Set (KZ10) for the Bar area because this fitted the needs of the builder and the architects” said Karl Wienand, Musik Lenz’s Product specialist. “We made an on sight demonstration (which included a planned concept and a wiring scheme for the electricians, thanks to Elektro Abrger) in front of the builder/owner, the architects and planners and they found the presentation very impressive, and liked the design and performance of the systems … planners, architects and owners alike”.
The incredible tiny dimension of the Lyzard, 2.2x10x1.7cm, is what gave K-array notoriety as the manufacturer of “audio snacks”, in fact they make you think of a twix candy bar rather than a speaker.
The installation of the music system needed to provide background music in no less than eleven areas, and a bit more than background music for the Bar area. Some of the eleven areas had to be controlled by PC, tablet and/or iPhone, such as the Bar, Restaurant, Parlor, Tea Room, Restrooms and Dressing Rooms. Others could be operated by wall controllers, such as the Reception, the three Massage Rooms and Meditation Room.
For the computer controlled areas, Sonos Connect systems were used for integration. In the rooms with wall controllers a dbx 1261 was used in combination with dbx ZC8 controllers. As source the two music computers needed to be integrated, one for the bar and restaurant area, one for the spa area, as well as streaming radio in all areas, and possibility of switching either in all directions. “We planned to do it in nearly two days, concerning the two sites of 19” racks, but as it often happens, plans change mid-project so it required more than twice as much time, after all.”
