KRISTIANSAND, Norway – MAVT DK provided K-array speakers for “Herliland,” a family-oriented production staged at the Kristiansand Zoo and Amusement Park (Kristiansand Dyreparken) here. The show is an open-air performance positioned near the lake where an audience of 1,500 can watch acrobatic performances, singing and dancing. Three KR400 systems were mounted to three flagpoles at each side of the stage, and on each flagpole were four meters of 3.15” columns.

K-array’s Danish distributor MAVT DK has recently installed the Italian-designed and created audio throughout the Nordic region at some of Europe’s most advanced builds this year. We travel north to Norway this summer to discover K-array speakers installed at Norway’s popular family show “Herliland” in Kristiansand Dyreparken.
The show is an open air performance positioned near to the lake where an audience of 1500 can see acrobatic performances, singing and dancing in this colourful spectacle. Performers use the stage and even the lake to create an entertaining fantasy show full of drama and comedy.
Jan Juul Hansen from MAVT has been a key part of the audio system set up for “Herliland” as well as many other installations in the Nordic region where he has preferred K-array over other systems. “Herliland is not a show where you can just replicate the audio set up you made the year before, we are in the third year of this popular musical spectacle and the set ups are always different. The complications with this particular show is the scale of the stage and diversity of using both land and water sets. Near to invisible speakers are important so they do not disrupt the audiences view but it is essential that the speakers can work in harmony with the microphones and the landscape in order to project the audio effectively.”
He continued to add “When we showed the K-array speakers to the client, they were sold immediately, it ticked all the boxes. Weatherproof, slim and unobtrusive which even created more room for larger audiences and a greater focus on the show.”
Jan Juul Hansen and his team put together 3 x KR400 systems mounted on to three flagpoles at each side of the stage, on each flagpole were 4 metres of of powerful 3.15” columns, which the systems are composed by, positioned above the stage and above the heads of the 14 performers who were equipped with headsets. Feedback is non-existent with K-array speakers which gives sound engineers more freedom to find their ideal set up for the performance and this was no exception. To complete the work, hidden underneath the flagpoles, 3 subwoofer KMT21s per side gave a powerful contribution to the show. ‘Herliland’ continues it’s success in Norway pushing technology further to create a unique spectacle.
