German-Themed Events in China Rely on K-array Setup

BEIJING and SHANGHAI — Each year since 2000, the German Chamber of Commerce in China has hosted the German Ball in Beijing and in Shanghai. For the most recent events, held last November, Sennheiser partners QMedia (Beijing) and Real Live (Shanghai) provided K-array gear.

More details from Sennheiser (www.sennheiser.com.hk) and K-array (www.k-array.com):

The German Ball in Beijing was held at the Kempinski Hotel Lufthansa Center last November 17, 2012 where guests enjoyed a range of performances with a 1920s themed extravaganza. The Shanghai event was held on November 24, 2012 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel’s Crystal and Grand ballrooms. More than 2000 guests attended, including business executives and leaders from politics with connection to and interest in Germany as well as prominent members of the German business community in Beijing and Shanghai. The German Ball is known for its quality, hospitality, fun and more importantly, entertainment. Sennheiser has continued to support the German Ball in China through their ongoing provision of entertainment and professional audio equipment and actively supported the two events by bringing a support crew to set up, manage the run of equipment and do the tear down. Sennheiser also flew in DJ Stefano to perform at the Beijing Ball and generously sponsored guests’ door gifts in both cities. Their biggest contribution however was providing expertise in pro sound, offering a complete sound system that featured not only microphones and headsets but also the K-array loudspeakers. The chosen K-speakers were the KR402, KR202 and KR102 models.  The uniformity of the sound throughout the venue was greatly appreciated and praised. Prior to Sennheiser’s involvement in the German Ball 2 years ago, the sound system was a weak point, but now that K-array has been used, the sound quality meets everyone’s expectations.  For the Beijing Ball, Sennheiser called on the rental company QMedia for the installation, onsite management and technical assistance. In Shanghai, Real Live, Sennheiser’s partner for other events,  took care of it all.

K-array’s systems are well reputed for their unique performance-to-size ratio as well as their ultra fast set-up and dismantling. In one day, the rental companies had to take care of the audio, set- up the lighting, film, take care of the microphone’s backline and make sure the musical performance was properly supported.

Sennheiser and K-array are already working on the 2013 dates. Looking at the video of the Shanghai ball, you feel like booking a flight and getting all decked out.
