Garbarek Loads NEXO Equipment in by Boat

FOH Staff • International News • July 3, 2007

VENICE, ITALY — When Grammy-nominated Norwegian artist Jan Garbarek arrived in Venice for the Jazz Festival, he discovered that all equipment for the show had to be delivered to the historic La Fenice Opera House by canal boat — so bystanders were treated to the sight of the NEXO/CAMCO touring system arriving on gondolas.
The equipment arrived in flight cases containing left and right hangs of 7x GEO S805 plus one S830, with a pair of CD12 sub bass units. Controlled by NEXO NX241s, the system was powered by 4x CAMCO Vortex 6 amplifiers. German P.A. firm RWS-Konzerttechnik designed and supplied the touring production audio, featuring a NEXO GEO S tangent-array P.A., powered by CAMCO Vortex Series amplifiers.

The compact size of the GEO S influenced RWS-Konzerttechnik’s Gert Rickmann-Wunderlich in his choice of touring system. “It’s not what you could call big, which is a particular advantage, as it can be flown on rigging in theatres without any additional work. Motor-driven winches are just not necessary.” He further stated, “A further benefit is that it's relatively easy to transport. The complete sound system for this production fits into a Sprinter van and yet can serve theatres with up to 1200 seats.”
