DiGiCo Marks 2012 Milestones with Free SD Console Upgrades

CHESSINGTON, U.K. — Marking three major 2012 milestones – 40 years as a company, 20 years of digital development and 10 years for the DiGiCo brand – DiGiCo has announced free upgrades for owners of its SD series consoles including its SD8, SD9, SD10 and SD11 models.

John Stadius, DiGiCo’s technical director,  noted that the upgrades release “more of the FPGA design’s untapped potential,” citing it as an example of the “flexibility and future proofing” of the consoles’ single FPGA chip design.

In a release, the company noted that “each of the SD consoles will receive some significant upgrades in both software and firmware. In some cases, the feature expansion represents a 100 percent increase to the current specification – and, it is not just limited to the processing options. As an example, ‘Supercharging’ your SD9 will increase your channel processing to 48 full flexi channels. In DSP terms, this is equivalent to 96 channels of processing.”

The company also noted that “these upgrades, depending on the console model, represent expansion options costing between £2,500 and £7,500,” or $3,894 to $11,683. The upgrades are also available to new customers buying SD consoles through the last day of ProLight + Sound 2012 (March 24, 2012).

DiGiCo’s SD8 Goes Into Overdrive

Since its launch, the versatility of DiGiCo’s SD8 console has found favour across both the live sound and installation markets.

Then the addition of Overdrive software took it up a level in terms of power and versatility. Now, Overdrive 2 marks the second time that SD8 owners will benefit from an upgrade to this already impressive console’s functions.

In addition to the current 60 Flexi Channels and 24 Flexi Busses, this latest advancement includes the provision of additional Dynamic EQ, Multiband Compressors, more FX, a 16 x 12 Matrix and the addition of DiGiTuBes, Reorder of Busses and Multichannel inputs, which previously were only available on an SD7.

“We’ve always aimed to be ahead of the curve,” says DiGiCo marketing director David Webster. “The implementation of Stealth Digital Processing™ in our SD Range of consoles has allowed us to develop products that provide more power than others currently on the market, and the headroom we built in at the very start means that we are able to ensure our existing product range still outpaces demand.”

DiGiCo are offering the SD8 Overdrive 2 upgrade FREE to all existing SD8 owners until Frankfurt Messe Prolight + Sound 2012.

DiGiCo’s SD9 Gets Supercharged

Thanks to the future proof nature of its FPGA technology, DiGiCo’s SD9 is getting an amazing boost from software / firmware upgrades that frees up more of the FPGA’s processing power. With up to 100% more added on certain features, it truly makes your SD9 investment Supercharged…

In celebration of DiGiCo’s anniversary year, the upgrade expands the capabilities of the SD9 by a phenomenal amount. It is free to all existing SD9 owners and is also included with any SD9 console purchased up until the last day of ProLight+Sound 2012.

The SD9 Supercharged has a significant expansion in Channel count, Dynamic EQs, Multiband Compressors and Matrix, and the addition of DiGiTuBes, Reorder of Busses and Multichannel inputs (formerly only available on SD7).

Further new features include an expanded Aux Panel, increased Dynamic functions such as a Duck option and expander for the Gate, a De-esser and two types of Knee for the Compressor. There are also new FX types with multitap, ping pong and stereo delay, with different delay times for left and right. A warmth button is provided on each channel for analogue emulation and two types of EQ have been added (Classic and Precision). There are also now Standard template sessions.

Another new feature, Sets (previously only available on SD7T), has been enhanced to allow for ‘Set Spill’. This allows the user to create Sets and, with a simple button press, change the console layout to display members of that Set.

All of this means that SD9 Supercharged has more features and functionality than any other console in its class.

DiGiCo Turns Up the Power with SD10 Nitrous

DiGiCo is about to unleash Nitrous, a software and firmware upgrade that gives an impressive increase in power to its SD10 console.

The SD10 sits between the flagship SD7 and the SD8. It already features extremely powerful processing and has 96 input channels – 12 of which are Flexi Channels – and 48 configurable Busses.

How Nitrous turns up the power is with a significant expansion in the amount of Dynamic EQ, Multiband Compressors and FX, plus the matrix increasing from a 16 x 12 to 16 x 16 and the addition of DiGiTuBes, Reorder of Busses and Multichannel inputs. Now with no fewer than 16 Dynamic EQ processors which are available simultaneously, further expanding the tremendous amount of sonically transparent signal processing available across the console.

All of this makes SD10 Nitrous the most powerful console in its class, now and well into the future.

DiGiCo are offering the SD10 Nitrous upgrade FREE to all existing SD10 owners until Frankfurt Messe Prolight + Sound 2012.
