GURGAON, India — After a 23-year-old woman collapsed and died on the way to the hospital following an Oct. 11 Skrillex concert near New Delhi, India, organizers have been cited by authorities for not doing enough to restrict entry to the event.
Fewer than 6,000 were expected at the open-air venue, HUDA Grounds, near Delhi; but, reportedly, more than 8,000 were admitted, with some estimating more than 10,000 attendees.
The event’s organizers, Clockwork Events, also reportedly face charges of not doing enough to restrict underage drinking at the event.
Aanchal Arora, 23, collapsed during the event from reported cardiac arrest. Doctors cited suffocation as the most likely cause; Arora was said to be in good health and dancing prior to her collapse.
The show in the Gurgaon/New Delhi area was the last of Skrillex’s tour stops in India, with performances in Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi Oct. 8-11.
