ST. LOUIS — Gateway Studios & Production Services (GSPS) has officially opened its sprawling new studio complex in Chesterfield, MO. Phase One of the project, which opened last month, with Phase Two set to open later this year.
The 32-acre facility is designed to meet the demands of the most complex touring productions, TV and film projects, along with high-end corporate events. The combination of amenities promises a seamless, purpose-built environment for creatives and crews to prepare, collaborate, and execute at the highest level.
“We set out to build a space that solves real challenges for artists and crews preparing to take their tour on the road,” said Trey Kerr, CEO of Gateway Studios & Production Services. “Our facility reflects that vision – purpose-built, flexible, and ready to meet the demands of any production.”
Since opening, GSPS has begun hosting a variety of clients and productions, and the momentum continues to grow. Production teams are engaging the full capabilities of the complex — from rehearsal and staging to on-site support services, technical infrastructure, production support, and more.
The campus also features three fully equipped previsualization (pre-vis) suites, built to give creative teams a streamlined, comfortable space to design and refine lighting, video, and staging elements before hitting the studio floor. Additionally, secure storage facilities for touring acts are available now.
Studio 80: GSPS notes that this flagship space is the largest dedicated rehearsal studio in North America, offering 52,500 square feet of rehearsal space, an 80-foot grid height and a 2,000,000-pound grid weight capacity. It also features a 10,800-square-foot receiving/staging area with six loading docks, a drive-in ramp, shore power for six buses, and a 15,000 square-foot area for dressing rooms with private bathrooms, offices and a catering lounge.
Studio 75: This area offers 15,000 square feet of rehearsal space, a 75-foot grid height, and a 1,000,000-pound grid weight capacity, well-suited for arena sized productions. Amenities include a 4,000-square-foot receiving/staging area, three loading docks, a drive-in ramp, and an 8,000 square-foot area with dressing rooms, private bathrooms, offices and a catering lounge.
The complex also features 15,700 square feet of open space with a 48-foot ceiling and rigging points at 42 feet. There’s also a 3,400-square-foot receiving/staging area, one dedicated loading dock with leveler and truck power, a drive-in ramp, and two offices with dedicated restrooms. This space also offers secure storage for touring acts, measuring 14 feet wide by 30 feet deep, with two five-foot-wide gates, providing a total opening of 10 feet for easy access and ample space for equipment.
The Gateway Studios Campus’ current partners include The Goddess Rocks Catering, Rhino labor and SGPS ShowRig, and with ample space, more partnerships are available. GSPS noted that all partnerships reflect the company’s commitment to quality, safety, and efficiency, bringing together a team that understands the pace, pressure, and precision of world-class entertainment.
“This facility was designed from the ground up to meet the practical needs of the crews who bring live entertainment to life,” said Garry Brown, president of operations at GSPS. “From rigging and power to comfort and privacy, we’ve created an environment where teams can focus, collaborate, and ultimately craft the kind of incredible live experiences that fans will remember long after the show.”
With Phase One already complete, GSPS is focusing on expansion with Phase Two of the project, set for completion this fall. This next stage of development will introduce Studio 65 and a new office building. Studio 65 will offer 12,500 square feet of rehearsal space, a 65-foot grid height, and an 800,000-pound grid capacity. The new office building will serve as GSPS headquarters and include leasing opportunities for industry partners.
