Bose Room Match System Selected for the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse at Montana State University

BOZEMAN, MONTANA – Doug Brekke of Black Box Design recently teamed up with Bridgewater Acoustics to design and install a new Bose Professional Room Match sound system for Montana State University in The Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.  Since the sound system upgrade the 7250 seat Fieldhouse, has become host to a far wider range of events, including the occasional rodeo, concerts and trade expos.

Berklee College of Music Using Point Source Audio Headsets

BOSTON — Berklee College of Music is using Point Source Audios’ Series8 cardioid headset microphones for their musical productions. The Point Source headset mics debuted at the school late last year. They are expected to be used for hundreds of student-run productions each year (including the recent production pictured here). Alejo Planchart, production manager in concert operations for Berklee, praised the headset mics for low coloration and high gain-before-feedback. “The sound is much more natural after feedback corrections,” Planchart noted.

Brillz’ Twonk Di Nation EDM Tour Hits Hard With Vue Audiotechnik

PHILADELPHIA – Currently in the midst of a five-month tour that will span the United States, EDM artist Brillz is bringing his unique brand of hip-hop/EDM on his Twonk Di Nation Tour featuring an all-star lineup, with rising festival trap artist Party Favor appearing on all dates and a rotating cast of support artists that includes Jackal, DOTCOM, Ghastly, LAXX, Kayzo, Party Thieves, Willy Joy, Y2K, Aryay, Dr. Fresch, and Infuze. The tour is carrying a VUE Audiotechnik monitor rig for the DJs consisting of eight VUE al-4s and four al-8SB subwoofers.  The system was supplied by Zeo Brothers Productions for use in the DJ Booth at all venues to help eliminate sound delay for the artists.

ATK Audiotek Scores with Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show

SANTA CLARA, CA — ATK Audiotek was credited with another memorable Super Bowl Halftime Show with an assist from gear made by JBL/Harman, Powersoft and Sennheiser, among others. Pat Baltzell, pictured here during set up and rehearsals, served as sound designer and FOH mixer for the show, which featured performances by Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Beyoncé and Bruno Mars, and reached 111.9 million viewers. The audio production involved 18 mobile speaker carts, each equipped with JBL VT4889 line array elements, JBL VT4880A subwoofers and Powersoft K10 amplifiers.

Eagles of Death Metal European Tour Resumes; Bataclan May Reopen Later This Year

STOCKHOLM, Sweden — On Feb. 13, three months after the terrorist attack at the Bataclan in Paris, the Eagles of Death Metal resumed their European tour. The Feb. 13 performance in Stockholm will be followed by a Feb. 16 concert in Paris, but not at the Bataclan. Owners of that venue have vowed to reopen, but not until later this year. Instead, the Eagles of Death Metal will perform at Paris’ Olympia music hall.

7,000 Escape Injury from Massive Stage Fire in India

MUMBAI, India — A fire blamed on errant sparklers or pyro effects engulfed the stage during Maharashtra Night at Mumbai’s Girgaum Chowpatty beach area, part of the week-long “Make in India Week” festivities sponsored by the local government. The event drew a crowd of 7,000, and all were safely evacuated from the blaze. The smoke and flames emerged at about 8:20 p.m. on Feb. 14 as costumed dancers were performing on stage. The police and firefighters were credited for taking quick action, halting the performance and overseeing the evacuation.
