Solotech Opens Nashville Office

NASHVILLE —Solotech announced April 18 that it has opened a new office in Nashville, TN. Led by Paul Owen, the office will develop new business opportunities in international touring and special events. Owen, who comes to Solotech from Thunder Audio, is joined by Lee Moro, who joined Solotech as senior project director for tours and special events in Sept. 2014. Solotech also noted that Dianna Mariotti will work at the Nashville location as an administrative assistant

More Bands and Artists Cancel NC Gigs

RALEIGH, NC — Along with Bruce Springsteen, who announced April 8 that he and the E Street Band would not perform the April 10 concert slated for Greensboro, NC to protest the state’s HB2 “bathroom law,” other bands and artists have spoken out against the law, canceled shows or announced that proceeds from shows performed would go to LGBT causes. Those canceling gigs include Ringo Starr, Boston’s Tom Scholz and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder. Others vowing to steer clear of the state include Dead & Company and Cirque du Soleil.

ACM Awards Features Audio-Technica Endorsing Artists

LAS VEGAS — The 51st Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, broadcast live on CBS from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3, featured two Audio-Technica endorsing artists — Entertainer of the Year winner Jason Aldean (a two-category nominee, pictured here), and Single Record of the Year winner Thomas Rhett (a three-category nominee). Each performed using Audio-Technica’s Artist Elite 5000 Series UHF Wireless System with the AEW-T6100a Hypercardioid Dynamic Handheld Transmitter during the course of the show.

Orchestra Performs with Live Audio Feed from Beehive; Result is Enhanced by TiMax from Out Board

NOTTINGHAM, U.K. — ONE, the album created by musical collective BE based on the soundtrack featured for the UK Pavilion at the Milan Expo 2015, pairs orchestral music with the sound of honey bees. For a live performance staged at the Nottingham Arts Theatre Feb. 18-19, Wolfgang Buttress, Hoare Lea and Squint Opera collaborated with 12 musicians and 40,000 bees, heard via a remote hive. The audio setup included TiMax from Out Board.

Tennessee Church Upgrades with VUE Audiotechnik System

HENDERSONVILLE, TN — For the 2,200-seat sanctuary at First Baptist Church Hendersonville, AV consultant/designer Technical Innovation of Nashville, TN led an upgrade that replaced a 26-year-old sound system with components from VUE Audiotechnik. The gear package included al-8 line arrays, al-8SB subs and al-4 subcompact line array systems for front fill. The new system is powered by six V6-i and two V4-i VUE V Series System Engines and mixed at both FOH and monitors by a new Soundcraft vi3000 console.

Florida Church Upgrades AV System with GC Pro Assist

ST. AUGUSTINE, FL — Anastasia Baptist Church upgraded its AV systems with an assist from Guitar Center Professional (GCPro) and GC Pro affiliate AV integrator Sound System Engineering. GC Pro continues assisting the church in refining its media systems and enhancing its ability to communicate its message to attendees. Shane Filan Tours U.K. with Martin Audio MLA Compact System

NEWCASTLE, U.K. — Former Westlife artist Shane Filan and his band recently completed a theater tour of the U.K. in support of his Right Here album. The show, which featured a set list that mixed old Westlife favorites with new material, also reunited husband and wife sound engineering team of Chris Pyne (FOH) and Becky Pell (monitors). Also looking after the speaker setup used for the tour – comprised of Martin Audio MLA Compact components – was system tech Andy Greenwood.
