AES Unveils Schedule of Papers Presentations for Paris Convention

New York, NY,  — The schedule for Paper Presentations, both as lectures and/or posters, have been announced for the upcoming Audio Engineering Society’s 140th International Convention at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, France, June 4-7. With topical paper sessions covering the latest research in immersive audio, audio equipment and delivery, audio signal processing, live sound issues, acoustics, and more, the Paris convention will offer four full days of research paper presentations representing the frontiers of research in the  professional, scientific and educational communities. Sessions have been reviewed and evaluated by convention Papers Co-Chairs Thomas Goerne, Wolfgang Klippel, Bergame Periaux, Robin Reumers and Dejan Todorovic, assisted by a number of external expert reviewers from the AES audio community.

French Soundco Invests in A&H dLive Digital Console

AURAY, France — Musical’Ré, an events company based in the Brittany region of northwest France, recently invested in Allen & Heath’s new dLive digital mixing system. Musical’Ré selected the S7000 control surface with DM48 MixRack. The company used the system for the first time as the main stage FOH console at the festivals, Les Nuits Soniques and Les Hivernales Tinéniac.

The Warehouse currently has offices in Glasgow and Edinburgh, Scotland. To further support Adamson in northern England, The Warehouse is opening a third branch in Chorley, Lancashire, U.K. It will be led by Craig Buckley and Paul Atherton.

In Memoriam: IED Co-Founder Hardy Martin, 1936-2016

LOUISVILLE, KY — Hardy Martin, co-founder of Innovative Electronic Designs (IED), died May 1 at his home in Louisville, KY. He was 79. Martin and longtime associates Ray Allen and Robert Ponto established IED in 1978, initially to develop an automatic microphone mixer for JBL. From there, Martin and others at IED developed many firsts in the realm of digital audio processing.

Irish Orchestra Performs in London with DPA Microphone Assist

LONDON — DPA microphones played a key role in delivering optimum sound quality to the Comhaltas National Folk Orchestra of Ireland, which made its London debut over Easter with a special concert at the Barbican. DPA’s d:vote Instrument Microphones were used to amplify various instruments, including the harps that are central to the orchestra’s sound. Barry McCusker, director of Armagh-based rental company McCusker Pro Audio, specified the gear.
