NASHVILLE — OSA International is providing a Martin Audio MLA loudspeaker system on tour with Steely Dan and special guest Steve Winwood. The pressures are there to carry the sound of two artists with two different musical styles. Then there’s the variety of venues with different acoustic properties in each. Add in the weather – where hail stones caused audience evacuations at Red Rocks – and they are putting the Martin Audio MLA through its paces.

INGLEWOOD, CA — VerTec and VTX line arrays from JBL by Harman facilitated the house sound for the third annual iHeartRadio Music Awards at the Forum. There were two main challenges for event integrator ATK Audiotek. First, the system had to evoke the audience’s energy that is so essential to a televised live music event. Secondly, the PA had to produce clear and transparent audio for the show’s dialog sequences.

NASHVILLE — Nashville’s Ensworth School is made up of a student body that includes children of resident musicians. So high-quality sound is consistently needed, not only to support school shows, but also the many performances given by parents – professional musicians who enjoy the opportunity to raise money for the school. They recently installed an FBT sound system in the school’s auditorium, giving the school the ability do things with the room they’ve never been able to do before – with more volume and clarity.

LOS ANGELES – Maroon 5’s FOH engineer Jim Ebdon is touring with his console of choice, the SSL L500 Plus. “I’m not choosing a console because it looks pretty or because there is a ton of stuff on it that I’m probably never going to use,” he says. “I’m choosing a console because of how it sounds, which is the most important thing.” In particular, Ebdon has been impressed with the onboard processing.
